Richard T. Balog, CPA/CFF, Managing Partner

Certified Public Accounting Firm

of Balog + Tamburri, LLC. He has been a CPA since 1972.

Mr. Balog manages the conduct of the Firms audit and financial consulting engagements. He specializes in Audit, Accounting, Virtual CFO, Start-Up and Forensic Accounting services. He also has extensive experience in performing “Distressed-Business” Recovery Activities, Internal and Operational Audits, Activity-Based Cost Management and Audit consulting.

Mr. Balog is an internationally-recognized seminar leader in providing audit, accounting, finance and business management professional development for over 30 years. He has won awards from The Institute of Internal Auditors and is currently a “Top 50 Small Business Influencer” in the Jacksonville Area.

Prior to forming Balog + Tamburri, Mr. Balog successfully established The ARC Consulting Group, Inc. (www.arcconsultinggroup.com) in 1988 which he created into an internationally-recognized provider of financial consulting and training. In 1981, Mr. Balog was recruited by KPMG Peat Marwick’s to create the Firm’s Executive Education Department, which became a leader in accounting, audit, and management development professional education. Additionally, Mr. Balog served as Manager of Program Development for The Institute of Internal Auditors, where he developed the course development framework and many of the training programs for the IIA’s professional development programs. Mr. Balog was named Outstanding Staff Faculty Member for the IIA. He also served on the professional staff of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) where he helped develop the COSO Structured Framework. In addition, he was awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award for his extraordinary contribution to the audit profession. He served as Manager of Internal Audit for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland, and began his career with a national accounting firm.

Education

A graduate of Loyola University, he holds degrees in accounting and management. Mr. Balog is a member of the University of North Florida Faculty, serving in their Continuing Education Division. He has served on the faculties of Florida State College in Jacksonville, The University of Central Florida – Graduate Division, Orlando College, and the adjunct faculty of The George Mason University – School of International Studies in Arlington, VA.

Professional Recognition

Mr. Balog is a contributing author and past contributing editor for Internal Auditing Journal and Cost Management Digest. He has been published in The Journal of Accountancy, The Internal Auditor, and The Management Journal. He has written more than 70 professional development programs for various companies, professional associations and educational foundations including The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The American Management Association, The Institute of Internal Auditors, The Institute of Management Accountants, George Mason University School of International Studies, and Orlando College. He served as Contributing Editor for Warren, Gorham & Lamont’s Internal Auditing Journal. He is listed in Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who In The World. Mr. Balog is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditors, and National Association of Accountants. He is a Charter Member of The Institute for Financial Crime Prevention, and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Balog is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), A Distinguished Member of the American College of Forensic Examiners (DACFE), and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Maryland and Florida, and is certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the AICPA.

Mr. Balog is an Eagle Scout and is active in the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster of Troop 330 in St. Augustine, Florida.

Rob Tamburri, CPA/PFS – Managing Partner – Georgia

rob-tamburri-partnerRob Tamburri, CPA/PFS, is the Managing Partner- Georgia, based out of the Atlanta, GA office of the Certified Public Accounting Firm of Balog + Tamburri, LLC. He has been a CPA since 1993.

Mr. Tamburri manages the conduct of the Firms tax and financial consulting engagements. He specializes in Taxation, Accounting, and Virtual CFO consulting. He also has extensive experience working in the health care, real estate, manufacturing, automotive services, logistics, restaurants and personal service companies.

Mr. Tamburri is a well-known speaker regarding tax and economic matters and has appeared on CNBC “Power Lunch” and Bloomberg Television. Prior to forming Balog + Tamburri CPA’s he successfully established The Tamburri Financial Group, LLC which specializes in investment management and financial planning. In 1989, Mr. Tamburri was recruited by Deloitte & Touche in New York City joining their financial services sector working with clients in insurance, real estate and brokerage. Additionally, Mr. Tamburri served as an analyst at Bear Stearns & Company in their Commodities and Futures Group and held finance and operations positions in the logistics and telecom industries.

More recently, Mr. Tamburri from 1999 to 2009 was responsible for the finance and investment operations of a leading wealth management firm in Atlanta where he functioned as the CFO and led their investment committee.

Education

Mr. Tamburri holds a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Albany and a MBA from the esteemed Thunderbird School of Global Management in International Finance. Mr. Tamburri has held FINRA licenses 4, 7,24,66 and is a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS).

Professional Recognition

Mr. Tamburri is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Georgia Society of CPA’s and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Georgia, Florida and New York, and is Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) as designated by the AICPA.

Mr. Tamburri has been a Georgia resident since 1995 and resides in Dunwoody, GA.

Kate Balog, MBA, CMA (1954 – 2020) In Memorial

Ms. Kathleen G Balog was a Principal of the Certified Public Accounting Firm of Balog +Tamburri, CPAs, providing educational and consultative services to the business community. She was an integral part of the Firm’s formation and growth during her tenure she had overall responsibility for the management of the Firms financial operations, information technology activities, and the performance and management of consulting engagements in the areas of Forensic Accounting, Professional Controller Services, and Product Cost System Development. She was the loving wife of our Managing Partner for 28 years, passing on their 28th wedding anniversary.

 

 

Management Consulting Experience

Kate was an internationally recognized consultant, Ms. Balog specialized in the areas of corporate cost management, Activity-Based Cost system development, treasury functions, Strategic Financial Management, Sick Business Recovery Services and Forensic Accounting. She was also a recognized authority in the design, development, and control of application systems for a wide range of platforms and architectures. Her expertise included benefit accounting, product costing, foreign investment and exchange, the strategic and tactical applications of information technology, and strategic financial management.

She had successfully completed numerous domestic and international consulting engagements in the areas of Cost Management, Cost System Development and Operational Auditing. A partial listing of her domestic clients included: ABB, Fed Ex, The United States Postal Service, and Wal-Mart. Ms. Balog international clients included The National Bank of Greece, The Pamukbank in Türkiye, The National Electric Company of Italy (ENEL), and Air Products PLC.

Professional Development Experience

Ms. Balog had developed and delivered On-Site professional development programs for such organizations as Fed Ex Corp., Times-Mirror Corporation, The FDIC, The Inter-American Development Bank, The Inter-American Development Corporation, The United States Customs Service, ABB, Air Products and Chemicals, Wal-Mart, Inc., The Metropolitan Insurance Company, Wal-Mart, Buckman Laboratories, and NASDAQ.

Ms. Balog was a member of the University of North Florida Faculty, serving in their Continuing Education Division.

Background and Qualifications

Ms. Balog served as President of The ARC Consulting Group Inc, a multifaceted educational, training and consulting firm from 1989 until her passing. Prior to joining the Firm in 2011, Ms. Balog served as Chief Financial Officer for an international manufacturing company with operations in both the United States and Japan. As an officer of the company, she was accountable for the fiscal management of the organization. In this position, Ms. Balog developed the cost management systems for this multi-national manufacturing organization. Ms. Balog also served as Corporate Controller and Cost Accounting Manager for several manufacturing companies in the Greater Chicago area. Ms. Balog earned a B. S. with honors in accounting and finance from Indiana University.  She earned her MBA in Corporate Finance from Purdue University.

Ms. Balog has contributed to a number of published journals and reference guides in the areas of fiscal management, internal controls, internal audit. She has assisted in the development of several financial management and internal audit professional development programs including The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The American Management Association, The Institute of Internal Auditors, and The Institute of Management Accountants. She was listed in Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in American Finance, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World. Ms. Balog was a Certified Management Accountant.
